Emily Jade Jones

Bereavement Lead

Emily is a social media expert working in fashion and retail. She has worked for some incredible brands throughout her career, including Mulberry, Chanel and Aman Resorts. Outside of work, Emily enjoys yoga and travelling. In late 2019, just before the pandemic, Emily’s mother died unexpectedly from what was later diagnosed as Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS), in that no underlying cause was identified. Emily was extemley close to her mother who was young and healthy at the time, so nothing could have prepared Emily or her father for this devastating loss. Because of the nature of this type of death, Emily was not offered the support of a specialist charity or bereavement service. She felt completely alone with her grief (being an only child), and the lack of guidance that followed meant that she had to process trauma her own way. Today, Emily enjoys her life in London with her partner James who she recently married, and their Siberian cat, Blue. She supports the Mortality Alliance as a Bereavement Lead to help fill the void in support services for bereavement from SADS.

SADS is an under-resourced area in bereavement support, which can lead to complicated grief for the bereaved. I look forward to this improving through the work of the Mortality Alliance.
